Hello! My name is Crystal Milne, and I am proud to be the President of the Upsilon chapter of Kappa Beta Gamma for 2017. On behalf of our chapter, I would like to welcome you to our official website!
Kappa Beta Gamma was founded in 1917 at Marquette University in Milwaukee. Over the last 99 years, Kappa has grown and evolved to become an International Sorority, with more than 20 active chapters across Canada and the United States and over 1,000 alumni. The Upsilon chapter here at the University of Victoria is proud to be Kappa’s first international chapter, founded on April 2, 2011.
In my first year, I decided to join Kappa Beta Gamma because I was a commuter student and found it difficult to meet people in my classes. Over my four years in Kappa, I have found my travel companions, study buddies, roommates but most importantly, my chosen family. Joining Kappa Beta Gamma has enriched my university experience and provided me with opportunities that I could never have envisioned. It is undoubtedly the best decision I made as a student at the University of Victoria.
Our chapter is filled with individuals from all faculties and walks of life. We pride ourselves in creating a positive and dynamic home away from home for all our members. Through our sisterhood we strive to make memories, create laughter and build strong bonds that will last a lifetime. Ultimately, the Upsilon chapter provides members with valuable leadership experience to inspire each other to become better versions of ourselves.
As president for the next year, I am working hard to ensure our sorority is thriving, philanthropically and sisterly. At the end of my term, I am excited to see the success of not only our chapter as a collective, but each individual member. The transition to university and finding your place in a school of over 20,000 students can be difficult. As a result, I welcome all of you to consider joining Kappa Beta Gamma and potentially finding your home away from home.
